I'm trying to keep them vague so that they can apply to most genres and styles. If you get a great idea how to work one into your story or if you find it doesn't apply at all let me know.

Can't think of a good one but here's a few lousy ones:

1 Give a character a long wordy mantra which they repeat often
2 Have the mission impossible theme playing in their head while they're trying to pull something off
3 Work in a literal or metaphorical horse and rider
4 Go into your bathroom or kitchen and read the advert words on the packages (example: I walked in to my bathroom and saw a bottle of gel that said "create and control" and a face cream that said "Cleansing Energy") Then use these as themes in your next chapter.
