This was mine: You know when you're in trouble when you look at the manuscript for a second major writing session and you think, "I don't know where to go from here."

"Hairstyles of the Damned" The word 'hairstyles' instantly tells you that this is a character book. Hairstyles are what identify us the quickest by sight.
Also I think hot sellers use words like "memoirs" , "confessions" , "diary" though I never pick those up. Also there are a lot of parody titles with the prefix "I was a...". I'm not sure what the original was. They all imply some kind of juicy inside account of an unusual life. At least that's my take on it.
As for me I keep an eye out for supernatural words like Tony Hillerman's "The Ghostway".

I did it!!!
Finished with 53,865 words. Of course, saying "I did it!" is a bit weird for me since the novel title is "What if He Didn't Do It?"

I'm trying to keep them vague so that they can apply to most genres and styles. If you get a great idea how to work one into your story or if you find it doesn't apply at all let me know.

you may want to check out the motivation thread on here. http://ccnanowrimo.wetpaint.com/thread/2040948/MotivationAlso there's a writing exercise that i do with my writing buddies. It starts with them closing their eyes and clearing their mind. Then I ask just a few prodding questions about what they see and what the feeling of the scene is. "And then what happens?" or "Describe that to me." "That's interesting... go on." Try to imagine that your inner editor or your muse is a psychiatrist and you are on the couch in hypnosis. Just remember that NaNoWriMo is one big rough draft and that once you get to do other drafts they will be good and working toward perfection. For now this is just like notes to yourself about what you want to write later when you write it for real.

Is it just me or did Monday totally suck out all of your creative juices. All Saturday and Sunday I was pumped to be writing, but as soon as Monday hit, it felt as if I was running on empty. Now I'm super behind. *arms herself with a bag of skittles* Hopefully the good ol' sugar high will help me out ^-^

"awwwww *offers coffee* Your ML always cares about your word count. That much is reliable in life. If you can't find a note book just write on your arms and don't shower. And don't worry because the first year I won I barely had anything going in to week 3! While you roll up your sleeves and dive in to that word count here's two inspiring vids suitable to the NaNo journey. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZE4KGB6Wt4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-oAdVQ0y4w" Thank you!! *gobbles the coffee* I needed that ^-^ haha I love the videos they helped. Now I'm pumped up to go home and get some typing done!!! *flexs her fingers*

Can't think of a good one but here's a few lousy ones:
1 Give a character a long wordy mantra which they repeat often 2 Have the mission impossible theme playing in their head while they're trying to pull something off 3 Work in a literal or metaphorical horse and rider 4 Go into your bathroom or kitchen and read the advert words on the packages (example: I walked in to my bathroom and saw a bottle of gel that said "create and control" and a face cream that said "Cleansing Energy") Then use these as themes in your next chapter.

I figured it's be nice if we'd be able to discuss what exactly it is that we do to write and discuss any tips for writing that we may wish to share. When I write, I write it all out in a spiral first and then, if I have the time, I type it up into my laptop. I'm never very comfortable not having a hard copy after a run-in with the washer and my jump drive. Let's just say I lost a lot more information than I'm comfortable with. Also, since I'm in school, it's a bit harder to stay focused, but any free second I have during or in-between classes I have my spiral out and am writing. Also, I spend most of my nights with my stereo on blast curled up in my armchair. ^-^ With either candy, chocolate or almonds within reach.

My advise to anyone low on their word count is:
Attend write ins Do timed writing
Have someone shout random words or phrases at you that you have to use (you couldn't believe how well this one worked for me when I was stuck)
Write about yourself in every character Don't be afraid to go with an unexplained fantasy or image Don't be afraid of cliches as long as you find them easy to write

I've added videos to your musical selections. I hope I picked the right ones. if you want to change it you can go to any youtube video and grab the code on the right hand side. (use the little blue gear on the right to add a nice border if you like) Then go to "easy edit" on this page. Click on widgets and then select youtube. Next click on add by url or embed code.
